More and more people are getting curious about the off-the-grid lifestyle. For sure it would not be a super convenient lifestyle but it has its many advantages.
Inhabitat.com featured this wagon that could allow you to live rent-free and free from having to pay for utility bills.
“Is your dream to travel the world in an off-grid caravan? The Austrian manufacturers behind WOHNWAGON (Living Wagon) could help make your fantasy into reality. Wrapped in a rounded, larch-clad shell, this charming mobile home is an eco-friendly and energy-efficient gem built with locally sourced natural and recycled materials, a green roof, and solar panels. The solar-powered WOHNWAGON can be towed to just about anywhere in the world and fits within the footprint of a parking spot.”

Rent-free
QZ.Com meantime featured this home capsule that could allow you to live rent-free as well.
“The completely self-sustaining portable home contains a 9,744 watt-hour battery, a 750 watt wind turbine, and high-efficiency solar cells that can support you for about a year in pretty much any location in the world, provided there is some sunlight. (It probably wouldn’t work in a cave, for instance, should someone desire to live in one.) The capsule also includes a rainwater collection and filtration system. Inside, there’s a kitchenette with running water, a flushable toilet, a shower, a bed, and work space. Nice Architects says the capsule, which is about 4.5 meters (14.7 feet) long and 2.4 meters (7.9 feet) wide, can comfortably fit two people.”

Bored Panda also featured the same eco capsules saying that it could have other purposes as well, apart from off-the-grid living. Electrician “Ecocapsules, designed by Bratislava-based Nice Architects, promise to let anyone live off the grid for up to a year. Each unit is equipped with solar panels, a retractable wind-turbine, and a design that captures rain water. Inside, you’ll find a kitchenette with running water, a flushing toilet, and hot shower. The Ecocapsule “is suitable for a wide range of applications,” write the designers, such as an “independent research station or a tourist lodge to an emergency housing or a humanitarian-action unit.”
